Welcome to our completely redesigned website. We hope you enjoy the new and improved look and the additional content we have added. This new website will be continually updated to include the latest news and developments in the local, national and international masonry industry. Check back often to see what’s been added!
During the website design process, one of the major goals was to feature photographs of some of the many projects built in Saskatchewan through the collaboration of the local design community and our members. Showcasing the spectacular masonry projects around the province to recognize the achievements of those involved is important to us.
The website also features updated information on many of SMI’s initiatives including the Saskatchewan Centre for Masonry Design, the Saskatchewan Masonry Design Awards, as well as our collaboration with the Canada Masonry Design Centre to provide a technical support office in Saskatoon. We have included a “Why Masonry” section discussing the benefits of masonry construction in Saskatchewan for the benefit of both the designers and the owners.
We have provided several useful links to various masonry related websites that feature helpful technical information, such as drawing details, technical manuals and standard specifications. These links have been gathered and displayed for design professionals to utilize.
We have also collaborated with Dr. Mike Hatzinikolas, one of Canada’s imminent experts in masonry, to digitize many of his research papers and have made these available for download from our website. These include information on temporary wind bracing, structural upgrading of steel stud – brick veneer cladding systems and masonry details for residential construction, just to name a few.
The website has a significantly updated section showcasing our members and the benefits of membership with SMI. You can find the complete contact information and company biography of all members. In addition, each Contractor member has a selection of photos detailing past projects to showcase their accomplishments. For potential new members, we have provided our membership application in an easily fillable format.
These are just some of the new and exciting things that we have included on our website. We always appreciate feedback on current content as well as suggestions for future content you would like to see.
